Review Summary: Nice & Suspenseful Until.............
Review: I found the book very well written & the story nicely entwined with it's characters. There's no long, descriptive lead in. The story hits the ground running. The novel held my interest throughout. I was a bit disappointed with it's ending. Not so much as to what happens with the villains; rather the last pages could have been left unwritten. A good thriller which ends with it's last few pages as soupy & corny as a soap opera

Review Summary: For art lovers who like mysteries
Review: The background is a story in itself where the writer skillfully weaves a great deal of information about Impressionist art and the nuts and bolts of the art world around a solid mystery. The heroine is a modern professional woman with a really authentic feel, (I hate drama queens). The story unwinds as she moves around the world attempting to save herself and everybody else while trying to hold on to a very valuable Van Gogh. It's well done with the story twisting again and again leading to one surprise after another. There is tension and suspense, but the level does not leave you feeling like you've had too much coffee. This is a story that stands on its own but coupled with the everyday business of art it becomes it a real treat.

Review Summary: Lots of Name Dropping, a Literary Hook on Every Page, and It Is Entertaining
Review: Some will find this book very annoying and some will like it. In any case, it is a compelling read and we must give Lord Archer his due for that. I enjoyed the book, read it cover to cover, but thought it was a bit too cute in spots.

It is 500 pages long, written in large font, so large that it is really closer to about 250 pages. Most can read it in an evening or perhaps on one or two medium length airplane flights covering a day or less. If you want something mindless to read while traveling on a plane, then this is it, or could be it, and it will keep you awake.

What has he done right? Well, he has a lot of suspense or literary hooks to keep the reader interested in the book - and awake. The book must hold some sort of record for hooks, and it would not be an overstatement to say that every page leaves the reader dangling in suspense, sometimes a bit too obviously, but in suspense.

The plot is completely improbable so we will not even comment on that. The reader can discover the story.

The part which I found very annoying was his attempt to impress the reader by endless name dropping about art. It is all a bit too much and almost ruins the book. It is a substitute for real writing and honest prose in my humble opinion. Because of that, it falls far short of 5 stars, but it is average or above average for a light read, so it is 4 stars.

I have no problem recommending it as a 4 star time killer.
